I wonder, do you take summer course or work for money or travel or other fun?
I am keeping busy as usual, in and out around office, between church and home as routine manner. I have no school in summer, I miss you all I feel.

If someone feel boring on Sunday, may be try local church to join their program in Sunday or weekday, or local library find books they have free course ESL and apply NYC library card is easy, they also have free DVD, CD and video tape. It is good to visit Central Library in 5Ave & 42St. try back yard cafe.

using internet is good to student

Nowadays, people invents money to new technology, one of most popular technology is computer internet. Internet websites are convenient for all different industries and institutions, such as corporations, businesses, offices, schools and governments. Using internet is able to bring two distance people into one place for meeting. For businessmen, using internet easily can update their data, efficient information, communication and other works. People can be done their works in home through internet instead of office. For college student, internet is not only learning knowledge tool, also a wonderful communication tool for students and professors.

Many courses through internet are offer to college student, whether matriculate or non-matriculate program. Teachers do teach class and students do listen teachers’ teaching through internet. Students also can practice their learning, quiz examination and work done in home. For freshman student in St. John’s University, students are encouraging to use computer. School not only gives computer to every freshman, school also invests a lot of money in computer lab. From many points of view, college student have to know computer skill and computer knowledge, not only good in school homework, also help student in the future career when they are entering in competitive outside world.

With the help of internet technology in ESL writing class and team blog practice. Using computer write a paper is faster than using pen, also can avoid writing error through automatical checking system. Using internet writing blog is become more interesting to student. Student likes use computer because convenience. Computer is a smart tool today. New technology make student nowadays no only become better writer, also are motivated them to write more and practice more. Writing homework are become interest, fun and play without pressure. Student may feel self-confidence because work done more properly and presentable.

Students have opportunity to practice new technology through computer skill, whether English writing or other courses. Compare using pen and computer in writing class, it using computer seems more advantage to them than disadvantage. I learn a lot of computer skill in spring semester 2007. In ESL reading and writing class for example, to write a blog is new to me, I never have it before. I write a blog every week which require by teacher, I read New York Time everyday they send email to me, I practice quiz, non-stop English everyday in website. In ESL speech class for another example, I learn how to prepare presentation through computer. This is first time, I learn power point skill, I am learning how to transferable data from websites to memorial card, then make slide show on the end. All of these computer skills are very interesting and new to me. I am very happy that I have chances to learn and to practice them in my class.

So far, Computer and English reading and writing are challenges me. However, I am willing and able to learn them. In next semester, I will taking courses in ESLW and add another course as elective with computer science as well. I wish to improve these two courses to obtain more knowledgeable and skill able in the same time. I think it great things.

attend college good to people

People attend college or university to receive higher education. They look for a higher degree for sure. Whether bachelor, master or doctoral degree. They also come for many other different reasons, for example, to receive the most efficient way to improve their individual knowledge and career skill.

All knowledge and skills can be learned in academic books and also in classrooms from different professors. They all are good in their professional field. According to their teaching experience, they will know individual student levels and needs. They can provide useful advice for their students and help each student succeed.

In my opinion, higher education is very important today. People attend college for career preparation. They will obtain a better job and better life in the future after they graduate from university. College and university will train them well to be a qualified and quality person. The core curriculum provides students with general knowledge and major courses prepare students in competencies and leadership skills.

Nowadays in our society, all fields are very competitive. Businessman must keep brainstorming for their business. Upgrading their career skills and ideas are becoming very important. College and university are the place for them to upgrade their knowledge and ideas. Also, they can learn more things from the student societies.

People shall learn good things in good ways in good places. College or university is a perfect place to meet these criteria. Universities have more advanced programs than other places. Campuses have research centers, writing centers, tutoring centers, labs, libraries, mentor programs, and all kinds of support tools to help students. Students can learn efficient ways and good things from professors. On campus, all buildings are nice, clean, quiet, and good places for study.

If someone doesn’t like college or university, they will end up lacking education.
Maybe this dislike is temporary and they may learn to like it later. If not they will learn from the real world, but they will be learning the hard way. On the other hand, they can easily learn from college if they attend.

In America, college or university is an amazing place because people can enrich their knowledge at any age. They always can go back to school to get their college degree. I am so excited to be a student at St. Johns University. I look forward to completing my degree and upgrading my knowledge at the same time. Isn’t it a wonderful thing?

support or oppose to build a factory near community

A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory near your community. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence on your community. Do you support or oppose the factory? Explain your position.

People are lives in residential community area are separates from industrial or factory in New York City. All buildings in New York City have restriction in zoning resolution by Building Department. Normally, people like living in nice beautiful block, no traffic and quieter community. People are enjoying more green and play ground for children and family. It is different building style between factory building and community house. For my view points, I will not support a company to build a large factory near residential area in New York City. On another hand, I may support to build a factory near community if I residents in third world country or undeveloped town because public need more open job opportunities for them.

New York City is well developing city. Transportation and other factors are fully provides by government. Whether commercial store, shopping mall, office building, school district, residential area, industrial and factories zone are all according to city zoning resolution planning. Urban or suburban in NYC are convenient to transport from place to place. The city rules are protects community residents. I like to support government and his regulations. If factory built in near community may occurrences a lot of traffic and pollution. Also huge building, itself monster different style can not fit to residential house I think.

A large factory near community will bring many working opportunities to community. In develop city like NYC, we have good transportation to carry workers to factory area, workers can back home everyday so easily. On another hand, in undeveloped town like inland China or Africa, there has no bus or subway or car to transport workers to working places. People normally walk to jobsites. It may take them many hours on each trip. A place may far away from home, they may left their family and stay in jobsites for a week or a month or a year. They can not back home everyday; it is not good for him and family. If a company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory near this poor community. Then working people can work without left family. In that case, I will support this company to build a factory near community because it brings stability and advantage to the community.

In different circumstance, a company build a factory near community, in some community may be good to them. On another hand, in another community may be disadvantage to them, depend their different needs. What living environment and how they lives and where were they work. These factors may cause them to support or oppose a company to build a factory near their community. People must be careful choice advantage thing; they can through marketing research or public hearing to know both advantage and disadvantage. I vote for their good. A stability society, people have stable job and income. They work everyday and come home everyday. Prevent pollution or noise to community if any factory near community. No matter the approach or outlook, people all desire and seek quiet, convenient and comfortable lives. In my opinion, first of all, I will rethink about all factors even concern next generation may influence by factory in a long run. I will reconsider through source of public hearing to know advantage and disadvantage and people demand. This is the type of my approach that brings me decision to support or oppose.

Jesus predicts Peter’s denial him three times before the rooster crows.

Jesus comforts his disciples if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Jesus the way to the Father, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Jesus promises the Holy Spirit to be with us forever.
Jesus prays for himself, for his disciples and for all believers. (John 13-19)

Then Jesus arrested, and sentenced to be crucified and the crucifixion on Good Friday.
Jesus had to rise from the dead after three days. The Eastern Sunday it is most Great Day on the year.

I wish all of you have special Eastern Sunday, and know the son of God by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ he is the only one. He is our savior.

It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In my opinion, which source is more important? Why?

I have learned many lessons from different experiences in my life. Through my experiences in the stock market, I lost money on mutual funds and stocks. Now I know how to handle my money and where to invest it. Instead of investing in stock, now I invest in others. I told my children about my experience, for them to avoid the same problems and to make their life easily.

A good book is recorded experience by the writer. That's why we learn from books and help ourselves. People can learn good things from good books. Not everything is contained in books but they can obtain knowledge from books. We can learn about other people’s experiences from books which saves our time and energy.

If a person makes a major mistake and writes about it, we as readers can avoid the mistakes they made. For example, a person writing about suffering from drug addiction informs people about the dangers of drug abuse.

I always encourage my children to read good books. I bought them Encyclopedias Britiannica when they were in high school. In Encyclopedia Britiannica, there are many thoughts and experiences from intelligent people. Readers just read and learn it. A book might take a writer ten or twenty years to write. It can take a lifetime to write the book. Why don’t readers take advantage of this to gain knowledge? A good book is like eating a concentrate vitamin pill. It promotes good mental growth.

To choose a book is very important. We must be careful to choose a good book. A good book might be recommends by a professor or The New York Times. Not all books are good. It can be a waste of time or have negative result. Therefore, to choose good book is important. Not everything that is learned is contained in books, but in my opinion, knowledge gained from books is more important than knowledge gained from experience.

It is good to share to you. The message come from TV, one lady speaker talk about women things, whether they are working home or they are in career. Every woman shall know herself "I know who I am" and also know herself "I am not on sale". It is very important for every woman to treat themselves nicely.

She teach woman what is element to success. All elements are nice, but five of them touch me most, harmony and balance, happy and truth and clean. Clean means if you have too many things to make you stressful, you ask yourself what is stress come from, and then clean it up. Clean make you truth, and truth make you happy, and happy make your life balance, and balance make your life in harmony and success. It is in good chain of cycles. She teach the audience to change a better life, it is very helpful speach.

People don't know how to clean up stresses, they hold their problems and don't give up. Now it's the time for them to re-think. You have many options for your own life at your own choices. It may hard for you to give up something now, but you re-think that will helping you to clean up yourself and to put you in good cycle of successful life. Why not ?

Similar like I learn my experience from real world, fighting with all difficulties, later I record on a piece paper to help my children, for them to avoid same path hardship which can make their life ealier. Not all books are good, it can be waste time and have bad result. Like some of dirty magazines, from writer dirty thought, he write dirty stuff to influence readers. Therefore, to chosen wise book or read good book are important. Good begin and wise choice will getten good result and success on the end.

In ESLW class, Dr. Pierson teach verb tenses today, it is a great thing for me to know all verb tenses, which English grammer is my weakness. And prof. Gail let us exercise comprehensive list "a" and "an" and "the", look two papers, there have fifty rules and exceptions on list. I have no idea before this class, so many rules on "a , an, the". It is very confusion. I am not clear them completely yet. But it's a good class, I need more grammer lessons, I learn some of them today. Thank you for both of you. I think you give us good tools, now is our term to practice again and again, I wish I can improve my English grammer soon.

Regarding computer lab in library on last Tuesday, it also is useful and helpful class. How to research articles, essays and papers. MLA and APA. learn many stuffs in one time. If possible to have another opportunity to listen this class again that will be nice.

I wants congratulation you prof. Gail, about your summer announcement, you will move to new country and new job in this summer. Wish you happy there and I hope I can visit you in the future. Good luck.

I have been thinking in this holiest season what shall I reponse my Lord?
Jesus dead on cross for me and save me alive. God bless me, give me everything, even give me an great opportunity to back school study. Many people in outside of Jesus Christ, they don't know him, shall I tell them the good news? I wish all my friends are knowing God. Receiving Jesus Christ as his savior, because God love them like parents love own baby.

Whether people like him or dislike him, they still live in his space and his time, in the begining God created the heavens and the earth. Human history divided to A.D. and B.C. from Jesus born. World history is His Story. I think every body shall appreciate his work. He save us from sin. Made us shinny white and value person. Are you believe Jesus Christ save your life?

I wish you have a happy Chinese New Year, all of you were in good health and good luck.
Today is last day of year 2006 which we use luner calandar. Coming year symbol is pig.
I don't know why chinese tradition use twelve animals as symbols for cycle of per twelve years,
it is interest if anyone can tell me the story.

I enjoy school aim program this afternoon. They celebrate Chinese New Year eve. today. Many international students attend this special occasion.

Year by years, time fly, my age getting older and older, there are in my memory about Chinese New Year while I am in child, many festive program, such as performance, show, opera and art display on every street and corner. We celebrate New Year for fifteen days, all business are close such as school, office and work. People pack up their bagages, back their hometown till Jan. 16. then return to work.

In our town, every house door are open, eating table non stop day and night, every house prepare foods for visitors, whether friend or guest, know or unknow. Once a year it is a big things to everyone. I feel it like yesterday.

It is a wonderful thing to know there have other tools to help English writing. Many of my questions get an answer from website links now. A good fisherman aren't give fish, but give him a fish pole and teach him how to fishing. it benefit him for lifetime. Thank you, teacher, You are a good fisherman and good teacher.

Now I know if I have a question, where shall I go, who shall I ask , how do I search and what is it. All those links are like powerful tools to me. It is a great help in English writing. I believe my English writing will improve soon if I practice them and use them everyday.
